Some yards just need a starting point. This Bethlehem backyard was rough - bare dirt, loose gravel scattered throughout, and no real usable space to speak of. Not every yard needs to be large to be worth doing right.

We cleared out the gravel, graded the ground to get a clean, even base, and laid fresh sod across the open lawn area. We also added a stone walkway running the length of the yard, which does two things - it gives you a defined path to move through the space, and it separates the lawn from the mulched bed along the fence line.

That layout detail matters more than people realize. When you have a narrow, fenced-in yard, keeping the zones clearly defined makes the whole space feel bigger and more intentional. A patch of fresh sod with no borders just looks unfinished. The walkway and mulch bed give everything a purpose.

The finished yard is the kind of space that's actually easy to maintain. Mow the grass, keep the mulch fresh, and the hard work is basically done. No more looking out at a gravel-and-dirt mess.

Small yards are worth investing in. This one is a good example of what a clean layout and quality sod installation can do - even when you're working with a tight footprint.
