Sometimes the right move isn't trimming - it's full removal. That was the call here at this Palmer Township home. The front bed was packed with overgrown juniper-style shrubs that had grown so dense and wide, they were swallowing the entire planting area and blocking the view of everything behind them.

What was hiding underneath all that overgrowth? A really nice curved stone border bed and a solid ornamental tree. Neither one was doing anything for the curb appeal because the shrubs had completely taken over. The bed, the border, the tree trunk - all buried.

We pulled everything out clean. Once the shrubs were gone, that curved retaining wall border got to breathe again. The tree is now a focal point instead of just another thing lost in the green mass. The brick paver walkway reads the way it should too - as a clear, intentional path to the front door.

This is a good example of why removal is sometimes the smarter choice over pruning. When shrubs have outgrown their space and lost their shape, trimming them back only buys a little time. Starting fresh gives the whole bed a purpose again and lets the hardscaping elements - the stonework, the pavers, the steps - actually show up.

Not every yard needs more plants. Sometimes clearing out what's no longer working is what makes the biggest difference. This front yard is proof of that.
